Dunannie celebrates World Book Day

Posted on 07th March 2017

There was a novel twist on the school day when Bedales Pre-prep, Dunannie held its World Book Day event last week.

Celebrating the event's 20th anniversary, children came to school dressed as their favourite characters, including characters from Harry Potter and the Gruffalo, the staff put their own favourite books on display and storytelling and discussion was held throughout the day. As part of the celebrations the school is creating a Dunannie Book List - compiled from recommendations from staff, children and parents.

Head of Dunannie, Jo Webbern said: “World Book Day is a key date in the Dunannie calendar and children always look forward to it, this year saw some very inventive costumes – including a Jane Austen. Whilst we are all very mindful that we live in an increasingly technological age, we can’t ignore the importance of books, the written word and the inspiration they can provide for young minds. We look forward to releasing our ‘Dunannie Book List’ soon.”
